Getting Started with Your Academic Profile

Welcome to academically.me! This guide will walk you through setting up your professional academic profile in just a few minutes.

1. Complete Your About Section

Start with the basics: your name, title, and a brief bio. This is the first thing visitors see, so make it count. Include your current position, institution, and a summary of your research focus. You can also add a profile picture to make your page more personal.

2. Choose Your Subdomain

Your profile lives at yourname.academically.me. Pick something professional and easy to remember — typically your name or a variation of it. You can change this later from the About section in your dashboard.

3. Add Your Publications

List your key publications with title, authors, journal/conference, and year. You can also include a DOI or URL for each. To save time, you can import from ORCID, import from OpenAlex, or look up publications by DOI.

4. Add Your Experience

Document your academic positions: current and past roles, institutions, and a brief description of your responsibilities and achievements at each. You can also import from LinkedIn to get started quickly.

5. Add Your Education

List your degrees, institutions, fields of study, and completion years. This gives visitors context on your academic training.

6. Add Research Interests

Tag your areas of expertise and research focus. These appear as badges on your profile and help other researchers find you.

7. Add Certifications & Awards

Showcase your professional certifications, awards, and credentials. Learn more about certifications →

8. Add Contact Information

Add your contact email, office location, phone, and office hours so colleagues and students can reach you. Learn more about contact info & social links →

9. Customize Section Visibility & Order

Use the sidebar in your dashboard to toggle which sections are visible and drag them into your preferred order. Learn more about managing sections →

10. Choose a Theme & Layouts

Personalize your profile's look by picking a color theme and choosing layouts for each section from your Settings page.
